He exploded again, insisting that his mother needed the money and that I had a good job.
I answered calmly:
“And I need a partner, not a tenant who doesn’t pay rent.”

“Apartment Keys.”
I explained his choices.
If he chose the first envelope, we could stay together and build a family in which both of us contributed.
If he chose the second, he would pack his things that very night and go live with his mother—since that was where his salary was already going anyway.
The Attempted Intimidation
Oleg tried to bluff.
He said he wasn’t going anywhere.
I calmly picked up my phone and told him that I would call a locksmith in the morning to change the locks. His belongings would be packed and waiting by the door.
Seeing that I wasn’t joking, he began pacing nervously around the kitchen.
He accused me of destroying our marriage “over a few pesos.”

“No. You destroyed our marriage the day you decided that your salary belonged only to you, while mine belonged to both of us.”
