Part 1 — I disguised myself as a homeless man and entered the restaurant L007

He looked at it.

Then at Mason.

A tiny exchange.

Quick.

Practiced.

Mason moved immediately toward the manager’s office.

My pulse accelerated.

They were going to remove something.

Delete something.

Hide something.

I reached inside my coat.

Kyle flinched as though he expected a weapon.

I pulled out my phone.

“I think somebody should call the police.”

Mason stopped walking.

The dining room went silent.

Then Kyle laughed.

“You going to call the cops because we asked you to leave?”

“No.”

I held up my phone.

“I’m going to call because one of your employees appears to be charging an elderly customer twice while telling him both transactions failed.”

Henry stared at Mason.

“What?”

Mason’s face drained.

Kyle released my arm.

“Sir, you’re confused.”

“Maybe.”

I looked at the small black object protruding from Mason’s apron.

“But I don’t think I am.”

Amber saw it too.

Her face changed.

“Mason.”
