Part 1 — I disguised myself as a homeless man and entered the restaurant L007

Kyle’s grip tightened.

“What did you say?”

I looked at Henry.

“Your card was approved.”

Mason laughed.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I saw the screen.”

Kyle stepped between us.

“Out.”

Amber frowned.

She looked from me to Mason.

Then toward the payment station.

“Wait.”

Mason’s expression changed.

Amber walked over.

“Mason, let me see the terminal.”

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because I’m handling it.”

“Then show me the declined transaction.”

Kyle snapped, “Amber, enough.”

She looked at him.

Something passed across her face.

Not surprise.

Recognition.

This had happened before.

That realization chilled me.

Amber knew something was wrong.

Maybe not everything.

But enough.

Henry slowly stood.

“I’ll come back tomorrow with cash.”

“No,” I said.

Kyle glared.

I turned toward Henry.

“Sit down, sir. You’ve already paid.”

Mason stepped closer.

“Who do you think you are?”

I almost told him.

Almost.

But then I saw Kyle glance toward the security camera mounted over the bar.
