I posted this picture with my grandfather on Facebook. Ten minutes later, a stranger wrote to me, “Get out of that house. He’s not the man you were told it was…” I thought it was a scam until he sent me a picture from 1989, and my grandfather paled into seeing her

“Where is she?”

For a long time there was no answer.

Then came a photograph.

A recent one.

It was not 1989.

It was from this year.

A woman in her forty was standing in front of a house.

There was something strangely familiar on his face.

His eyes.

Your smile.

For a few seconds I couldn’t understand why I found it so well known.

Then my grandfather whispered,

“Oh, my God.

“What’s going on?”

He pointed to the woman’s face.

Look at his eyes.

I did.

And I remembered my mother’s old photographs when I was young.

The resemblance was disturbing.

My phone vibrated again.

Anna has believed all her life that Linda is her sister. But three weeks ago I found a document showing that your family has been hiding something even bigger.

I could barely write:

What document?

Susan replied:

The birth certificate.

I looked at my grandfather.

He got up immediately.

“No.

What do you mean, “no”?

I shouldn’t find that.

That’s when I understood the most important thing.

My grandfather hadn’t just been hiding an old family secret.
