I suddenly remembered an evening.
My husband, Robert, had gotten into a terrible argument with our son, David.
Afterward, Linda came out of the kitchen crying.
When I asked what had happened, Robert told me it was a personal matter.
I never saw Linda again after that evening.
“My mother wasn’t a criminal,” Jake said. “But your children forced her to leave as if she had stolen something.”
Sarah interrupted him loudly.
“Enough! You can’t prove anything!”
“I haven’t even started,” Jake replied.
He explained that years earlier, Robert had become seriously ill.
During that time, David and Sarah had tried to convince him to sell our Florida home and invest the money in David’s business.
Robert refused.
After that, the relationship between my husband and our children deteriorated.
One evening, Linda accidentally overheard one of their conversations.
David demanded that his father change his will.
