Part 2: My hands shook as I pulled out the contents of the envelope

Part 4:

The truth came out faster than I expected.

Rachel had been having an affair with Liam for months. When he tried to end it and come clean to me, she panicked. She had grown used to the money he was paying her to stay quiet. In her twisted mind, if Liam was gone, she could comfort me, move in closer to the family, and eventually control the life insurance payout and the kids.

She had paid a shady mechanic friend to tamper with Liam’s brakes the night of the crash. She thought she had covered her tracks.

But Liam had suspected something was wrong. He had been documenting everything and left that file as protection — for me and for our children.

The police arrested Rachel two days later. The recordings, the financial trail, and the mechanic’s testimony were enough. She broke down in the interrogation room and confessed everything.

At her arraignment, she wouldn’t even look at me. The sister I had trusted my whole life — the one who was supposed to be my blood, my family — had murdered my husband and tried to destroy what was left of my world.
