My husband checks our daughter’s mouth every night before bed and says, “Open more. I need to see everything.” When I heard that, I opened the door Suddenly and I ran to my daughter, but he wouldn’t let me get close to her. I started crying
For eleven years, I completely trusted my husband.
That’s why I ignored the first strange night.
I woke up shortly after eleven and reached out to the other side of the bed.
Daniel was not there. I figured he went down to drink water.
But then I heard the floorboard creaked in front of our daughter’s room.
A few minutes later, Daniel came back.
“Where were you?” I asked.
He stopped.
In the bathroom.
I almost believed him. The next night it happened again.
And then again. Always after I thought I was already asleep.
Daniel came out quietly from us bedroom, disappeared down the hallway and returned ten or fifteen minutes later.
For the fourth night, I stopped asking. I started watching him. During the day, he behaved normally.
But around Lily, something had changed.
Sometimes she looked at him and immediately touched his mouth.
Sometimes Daniel whispered:
“Not now.
Once, when I entered the kitchen, I saw that a small white box was quickly kept in my pocket.
What is that?
“Nothing.
He smiled. But his smile seemed forced.
Then Lily stopped wanting dessert. That scared me more than anything else.
