PART 2
Years later,s. Daniel’s notebook unexpectedly appeared on the internet.
I hadn’t published it.
Daniel didn’t want to do it either.
It was his teacher.
That day, some children had again mocked him at school. One of them said out loud:
“He doesn’t even look like a child… he looks like an old man.”
Daniel did not answer.
He just came home, sat by the window, opened his notebook and wrote:
“If my face looks old, that doesn’t mean my heart is tired too. I’m still a kid. I want to play, laugh and dream too. What happens is that many times people do not see the child in me, because the first thing he notices is my face.”
His teacher read those words and cried.
The next day he asked us for permission to share some of Daniel’s writings on the school page.
By the same night, thousands of people had already read them.
A day later, it was millions.
People wrote:
“Today I am ashamed of all the times I have judged someone by their appearance.”
“This child has a heart bigger than that of many adults.”
Daniel taught us what it means to be truly human.
But the biggest surprise was yet to come.
An important editorial called us.
