“Mom, I don’t like to be alone with Mark.”
She immediately sat next to me.
I still remember the expression of concern on his face.
But just at that moment, Mark walked into the room.
He didn’t say anything.
He just looked at me.
And I changed my words.
“Because… it’s very strict with my duties.”
Mom was laughed relieved.
“He just wants you to do well in school.”
Mark smiled.
But as soon as my mother turned around, that smile disappeared from her face.
That night I realized that asking for help was going to be much harder than I had imagined.
But the real terror began a few months later, when my mother had to leave town for a whole weekend for work.
