I lived with him ten years as if I were his wife

For me, he had just begun.

At 5:40 in the morning I was in the kitchen.

On the table we had the extract of the land book of the house, the credit agreement, the statements of the accounts and two sheets on which we had written our monthly contributions.

The house I had said for ten years was “ours” was legally named.

The credit was in my name.

The advance came largely from my savings.

And although Mihai had contributed for years to household expenses and renovations — things that had to be correctly analyzed if we parted – the legal reality was much less simple than the expression “our house”.

I then opened the banking app.

I didn’t take any money that belonged to Mihai.

I didn’t empty the common account.

I just redirected my future salary to my personal account and made an appointment with a lawyer to understand exactly what each other’s rights and obligations were.
