Among them was Larisa.
He wore a blue coat and held in his hand a small bouquet of flowers. He slowly approached and overlooked the work.
“They’re very beautiful, Basil,” he said.
He smiled.
- Thank you.
I don’t think I’ve ever told you that enough.
Basil looked at her gently.
- Not too.
Larisa smiled sadly.
- I know.
Denis left them for a few minutes alone, pretending to have to answer the phone.
How is it going? He asked Larisa.
-
Okay. I have a lot of work to do. You?
-
More quiet. I’m trying to stop arguing with everybody.
Basil laughed slightly.
This is a big change.
Larisa laughed too.
Then it became serious.
“You know, for a long time I thought you left me that night. Now I understand that I had pushed you far ahead.
Basil did not respond immediately.
“Maybe we could have done some things differently,” he said. But everyone has to answer for what they did.
