Five minutes after the judge unfurled my marriage, Dad didn’t even ask me if I was okay

Julian had lost patience.

  • You know who I am?

The manager replied calmly.

  • Yes, sir. But that doesn’t change the payment procedures.

Chloe had led her hand to the necklace.

Julian, maybe we should use another card.

He had taken out a personal card.

And he had been turned down for that amount.

Then Chloe’s smile was gone.

You told me you could afford anything.

Julian had tried to reassure her, but the employee had asked him to return the unpaid jewels. The necklace had been seated back in his box, and Chloe was left with her bare neck and an expression that said more than all her videos.

Dinner, drinks and services already consumed were a separate problem. The manager had asked for their acquittal through a valid method, and Julian had begun to phone desperately to acquaintances.

I didn’t know then how their night ended.

And for the first time in many years, I didn’t feel the need to solve Julian’s problem myself.
