“You could sell today,” the man said.S. “No more struggles. No more odd jobs.”
Michael looked through the kitchen window.
His children were eating breakfast at the same small table where they sat every morning.
He thought about all the years he had spent working before sunrise, refusing to give up because three children depended on him.
Then he looked back at the man.
“No.”
The developer stared at him.
Michael smiled.
“My father didn’t leave me that land so I could sell it the first time life got easier.”
Over the following year, Michael turned the property into a small family farm.
