PART 1
“Let’s see how long you and that baby last without my money.”
My husband said that about four inches from my ear in Court Three on a Thursday morning in November, with his hand on the back of my chair.
My name is Anwen Pryce. I am twenty-four.
Judge Adeyemi had finished about ninety seconds earlier.
It took her four minutes and eleven seconds to read out. I have the transcript.
“Having considered the pre-nuptial agreement, the court finds that all marital property, including the residence on Fennimore Rise and all corporate holdings, remains solely vested in Mr Hale. No spousal maintenance is awarded. The respondent is to vacate the residence by five o’clock this afternoon.”
I sat in that chair with both hands flat on my own stomach.
Thirty-six weeks and four days.
She had been going since about eight that morning and she did not stop once during any of it, including while the ruling was being read.
