Dylan’s mother had finally heard the truth from her own son, after accusing Theo in front of a crowd.
“I’ve withdrawn my complaint. I’ve told Dylan to remove the video from every account he controls and stop sharing it. I was wrong to call that young man dangerous.”
She leaned in close, staring directly into the camera.
“I was wrong.”
“I can’t undo what I did, but if someone who knows him sees this, please pass along my apology. He doesn’t owe me a response.”
The video ended.
The woman had admitted publicly that she was wrong, and that her son had been wrong, too.
Part of me wanted to show Theo immediately. Another part remembered how he had clung to me that Thursday and wondered whether the video would frighten him all over again.
“He doesn’t owe me a response.”

The next day, I asked Theo whether he wanted to watch the video. He said yes.
