In a revealing 2017 interview,s Paris discussed struggles that went far beyond the pressures normally associated with growing up famous.
She said she’d experienced severe depression and anxiety and disclosed that she’d been sexually assaulted by a stranger when she was 14.
She also revealed that she’d attempted suicide multiple times as a teenager.
Rather than hiding those chapters as her public career developed, Paris increasingly spoke about them.
Then, in January 2025, she revealed another part of her story.
She described herself publicly as an alcoholic and heroin addict while celebrating five years without drugs or alcohol.
Her message focused not simply on quitting substances, but on everything sobriety had allowed her to experience again—music, relationships, grief, laughter and ordinary moments of life.
A year later, she celebrated six years sober and acknowledged that recovery hadn’t made life perfect. She also spoke openly about living with PTSD, OCD and treatment-resistant major depressive disorder.
Her Father’s Death Remains Deeply Personal
Paris has also spoken publicly about Michael Jackson’s death.
In 2017, she said she believed her father had been murdered and described his death as a “setup.”
